Portland Supporting Portland

This patch is a Merit Badge. What does that mean?

This patch references a 2018 media campaign by the Seattle Sounders declaring Portland, Maine, the only Portland that matters.

This Merritt badge is dedicated to members of the Massachusetts Militia, The Upper Valley Skirmishers and the East Coast Platoon with a special acknowledgement to The Press Herald newspaper of Portland Maine and RI RA Irish bar.

The Original Maine flag (1901-1909) features two of Maine’s well known symbols: the white pine (the state tree) and the North Star representing the state motto, Dirigo, which is Latin for “I direct”.
